For those of you who don't know who Evan is, He was my roommate during my freshman year of college. I made that picture up there about 2 years ago and posted it as this site's "image of the moment" for a while.

I just found out that Evan died in a car accident back in February.

Although I only knew Evan for a short bit of his life, he was a great friend and awesome roommate.

He was a very kind, laid-back kind of guy. He'd always tell me about how much he loved skateboarding and making movies. He'd often disappear for the majority of the day to come back with a great story.

One of the best things about having Evan as a roommate was his passion for movie-making. We were both always working hard as hell on our own things. A clip from one of his videos inspired one of the funniest scenes I've ever animated. As I was animating Mike Episode 4, I heard this crazy guy named Nacho rapping from Evan's computer. Evan sent me the sound bite from his movie, I threw it in my cartoon, and animated the Nacho rap.

There were also a lot of free days where him and I would just be sitting there playing video games. It was fun to the max.

Unfortunately, Evan had to leave UCSC near the end of the freshman year. We kept in contact though. As both our lives went on, things got busier and busier. Every once and a while I would call him or he would call me to see what's happening. About a year ago, we met up at a show that was going on up on campus. That was the last time I saw him in person. He was happy and looked like he was enjoying himself.

Evan, rock on. I pray that you're having a good time wherever you are now.
